Sleep not automatically tracking on Charge 3

My charge 3 is not automatically tracking my sleep. The only way it will track is if I manually tell it that I am going to sleep and that I’m awake. I reset the Fitbit and tried it again last night but did not track again.

Thanks for stopping by @58Nana and @Baz2000! Sorry to hear that the sleep tracking is not working properly on your Charge 3 trackers.

While reading your posts I was wondering if the sleep data is missing on the Fitbit app or on the tracker itself?

If you're missing the sleep data on the Fitbit app, please make sure that your Charge 3 is syncing with the app. You can verify this by checking if you're also missing steps, floors, etc. If so, please follow the tips and recommendations provided at: Why won't my Fitbit device sync?

Also, make sure you've reviewed: What should I know about sleep stages?

Thanks for helping out my friend @KimD.! Glad to hear you sorted this out. Smiley Very Happy

Hope this helps. Keep me posted!

My Fitbit Charge 3 is not tracking sleep on the tracker itself.   I have attempted all of the suggestions to resolve the issue to no avail.   If I cannot resolVe it shortly I will be returning the device for a refund.   Are you able to suggest a fix?

Welcome on board @Keelawee! Thanks for attempting all the suggestions in the forums to solve this issue. Nice way to go!

While reading your post I was wondering if you've checked that your Charge 3 is syncing your sleep in your Fitbit dashboard? Can you please confirm if the sleep data is only missing in the tracker itself? Are you getting the "Sleep not tracked" message?

Thanks for ping me out @KimD.Robot Very Happy

Looking forward to your reply!

@MarreFitbit  thanks for responding.  Yes it is syncing to my app. Although Some days despite having my charge 3 set to auto sync all day I gave to force it.  Which often takes hours ... having to go through rebooting phone, charge 3, turning Bluetooth on and off ... Eg Thursday mid morning it had not synced since Wednesday morning around 8am.  It was not until late Thursday I managed to sync my steps etc.

Thanks for letting me know your sleep is syncing to you app @Keelawee. However, I'm still wondering if the data is only missing in the tracker? I partially got your message, I'm still a bit confused since you mentioned syncing issues with other data too.

In regards to the syncing difficulty, sometimes I have to sync my tracker twice in the morning to see my sleep data. But it takes just a few seconds, so I'd recommend to take a look at: Why won't my Fitbit device sync?

Looking forward to your response!

I am sorry but this is getting ridiculous ...  It is obvious from my previous reply and your last response that it is not showing on my Fitbit Charge 3 ... When I manage to sync to the FitBit it does show there.

My issues with this device which is about 2 weeks old are two pronged.;

1. "Sleep not tracked" is what shows on the face of my FitBit Charge 3

2. Despite having it set to sync continually it does not, and it does not sync readily when I manual sync.  I HAVE followed all the fixes suggested but to no avail.

It appears that I am not the only one having these issues and no one's seems to be getting satisfactory answers.

Could this please be escalated to your technicians? If it cannot be resolved within the next 24hrs I am returning the device for a refund and will be looking at alternate brands!

So i have been looking at purchasing a Charge 3 - primarily for tracking sleep - but based on the complaints here, i may wait until i know that the bug is fixed.

No idea.    But as it is a 'known' issue why isn't it being flagged as such ? Bloody frustrating when you buy something expecting it to do certain things and it doesn't.  AND it isn't like it is a new issue from what I can tell ... It has been going on for quite a while. One return coming up, which I am sad about because the size and style is exactly what I wanted!

Hi, I had the same problem with the app not tracking my sleep nor my heart rate. I tried the tips the Fitbit moderator suggested to no avail too. It’s turns out that in my IPhone privacy settings: Bluetooth sharing had to be on for Fitbit and in the motion & fitness: Fitbit has to be enabled. Then go to the back to settings, look in the lists of apps down loaded for Fitbit & make sure Bluetooth is also enabled. This worked for me. I didn’t have them all enabled.

After the latest firmware update yesterday it did not track my full night's sleep. It never had this issue before the update. It probably didn't track at least 90 minutes of the first part of the night.  I did get up after about 90 minutes of sleep to use the restroom and it was about 5 mins up. I'll see how it does tonight.

Hello there @sanman202, thanks for jumping in here! This happened to my 3 days ago just after the firmware update.

However, I found out that the update had apparently shut off the 'on' heart rate setting on my device. After having reset it to 'on', the heart rate monitoring came on again. As you know, sleep stages are based on your heart rate data. So, open the Settings app and find Heart Rate. Make sure Heart Rate is On.

You can also take a look at this post to make sure you get your sleep stages next time. 😉

Keep us in the loop, we'll be around.

I as well am having this issue.  When I first purchased the Charge 3 fitbit it did it automatically.  The last update that was done - I believe it took it away.   Please bring it back.

I updated My fitbit app and now it does not track automatically my sleep. I already restarted the devise, I already delete and reload the app. I don’t want to put manually when I am going to sleep and when I wake up. All the solutions presented in he forums don’t work.

I have an issue with sleep. I wake up every couple hours. I usually get 5-6 hours broken up. My fitbit app charge 3 is showing 9+ hours of sleep. I’m not even in pjs that long, let alone asleep.

I have never clicked sleep now. What is the issue?  My fitbit is snug and about two inches above the wrist all the time, including sleep. Please advise. Thanks!
