Sleep tracking works well provided I don't get up to go to the bathroom during the night. In this event it switches off and does not switch on again for hours, leaving a gap. Has anyone found a way of switching it on again manually after a bathroom visit?

If you have the mobile app, you can begin a sleep log by going into your Sleep tile and clicking on the plus (+) sign. Choose “Begin Sleep Now” and then whenever you wake up, just click on the “I’m Awake” button to stop logging.

No worries. I tried to find a help article for you but I don't think one exists for manually starting/stopping sleep logs. The only reason I know about it is because I use it to track my naps that are less than one hour long (too short for it to autodetect).

Weird, I get up everynight and have not experienced this problem. it shows me up with steps and awake for a very short (2-3 minutes) time

What I can't understand is that I had my tracker charging all last night & it said I went to bed at 7:34PM & slept till 9:47AM the next morning! What is up with that? How can it track my sleep when I'm not wearing it? Has any one had this happen?

Hello everyone! Welcome to the Fitbit Community @CJohnD. @kalimm thanks for your cooperation 🙂 @pinoyschick47 your tracker uses Autodetection to record your sleep. Autodetection is based on your movement. When you haven’t moved in over an hour, algorithms assume that sleep has begun, which is confirmed by the length of time your movements are indicative of sleep behavior only (rolling over, etc). If you’re not moving but not asleep for long periods of time it’s possible for your tracker to falsely record sleep, in which case you can delete the sleep record from your dashboard. When you are not wearing your tracker you can turn off the heart rate to avoid this so if you’re not moving but not asleep for long periods of time it’s possible for your tracker to falsely record sleep, in which case you can delete the sleep record from your dashboard. @TerriST thanks for sharing!

@SUS4NN The original post was asking how to manually turn on sleep tracking. My comment still holds true. The Fitbit DOES auto detect sleep, but obviously there will be certain situations where it doesn't work perfectly. Tracking of afternoon naps are not the selling point, tracking of overnight sleep is - so I'm not entirely sure what your question is.

Hello @SUS4NN If your tracker automatically detects sleep, all naps at least an hour in length are saved in your sleep history. If you have a Fitbit One you must turn sleep mode on and off to record a nap. For naps shorter than the hours you can follow @kalimm 's advise on this post.
Catch you later! 🙂
