My new Fitbit charge does not record “stairs climbed “ Any suggestions why and what to do?

Can you confirm that you have a Charge 2 - it's a very old model and surprising to see someone having a new one.

 

The reason I ask is that where the Charge 2 does track stairs climbed, some Charge models, such as the Charge 5, do not.

I just ordered this charge 2 and it is new. My old charge worked well with stairs but the new one will not record stairs. Is there a trick to it? I have had a charge 2 for many years and found it very acceptable and robust. Please advise, ingo
