I feel like I am not getting fair step count when riding my bike. I rode 18 miles today and only got about 5,ooo steps . I was going up hill at over 10,000 feet altitude. Why so low steps?

Bike riding is not a step-based activity.  The only steps you get are from vibrations in your wrist.  A tracker on your wrist has no idea how hard your legs are working, what gear you are in, or going uphill or down.  Bit those things are all taken into your heart rate which is used for calories burned.

Before posting, re-read to see if it would make sense to someone else not looking at your Fitbit or phone.
