I drive a lot during the day time.

As my job to provide technical services. Unfortunately there is no fix time and locations. How can i make a log files to remove extra steps and even i made lot of steps between 2 driving location.

This is no acceptable solutions. This is called jugglery.

If fitbit do auto recognised all activities. Why not this one.

Excellent suggestion!

Maybe we should promote a collection of signatures for a petition to add this feature to the Fitbit! LOL

No even need to recognise it as it's actually an inactivity! Just a virtual on and off switch would do the job. 😉

I'm thinking of returning my FitBit. I just got it a few days ago and I enjoy it but, if it's main function is to count steps and its not doing that accurately then I don't have much faith in any of it's calculations. Are my heart rate stats correct? Did I really toss and turn as much as it claims?? I'm going to give it a few more days to see if any of the workarounds help but, if they dont, then back to the store it goes.

I love my Charge HR but this is a huge issue for me.  When I was driving my Escape, I never had an issue with getting extra steps while driving.  When I started driving my Fiat in early December 2016, I began having significant issues with extra steps.  On Wednesday, I drove over 300 miles and got an extra 15000+ steps.  This is particularly frustrating because I'm doing the 2017 Steps in 2017 challenge and have my FitBit synced to that account.  I don't want credit for miles that I didn't walk. As much as I truly love my Charge I'm about ready to downgrade back to a One to see if that takes care of the extra steps problem.  I don't see why the developers can't fix this problem since it is such a big issue.

Hello again. I just dug out this message https://community.fitbit.com/t5/Feature-Suggestions/Add-quot-Driving-Mode-quot-Feature-to-avoid-erro...

The Fitbit One has had that feature for 3 years and we still can't see it implemented in the latest more advanced models, like Charge 2?

Well, I'm just speechless!!!

I tried adding the DRIVING activity. It neither negated the steps, nor the floors climbed nor the bunchload of badges that were added. It is my third day with Fitbit and I have become so disappointed. Regret to have bought this Charge 2.

Just found this article....

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/health/article-4191858/Fitbits-exaggerate-step-count-25-day.html

I've decided that I'm returning it and getting a simple pedometer which is most likely more accurate. If more people don't return this sub-par product then no changes will be made. This issue should've been fixed already. #NotHappy

Even though that article can be true, I think the key sentence is "But he added that they still encourage exercise."

I have been aware since I started using my first Fitbit Charge two years ago that the steps were overestimated (and Charge 2 is no different). We can't expect something scientifically precise (at least for now), but this kind of device surely kicks out my will to move. I hate sometimes the 250 steps reminder when I sit too long, but I love the fact that I still feel compelled to stand up and do it! LOL As for the inaccuracy, so what? 10% still makes me walk or run 9,000 steps more than I might not do if didn't have it. I surely feel more active and energetic when I wear it, and that's a fact. I recently increased my daily goal to 11,000 but I never do less than 12,000 and quite often much more, trying to beat my personal record whenever I have the chance and the time.

It's the psychological aspect that counts... Smiley Happy

Just a suggestion: have you paid attention not to complete the typing and allow the app to finish it for you? I think this was pointed out as important elsewhere. For me it woks pretty well. If you still have problems, try the support people: if yours is defective, I'm sure they will help. Support has always been amazing with me.

@GanapathyS , @Ton is correct, you must tap on the word driving that pops up..

Notice tgat I typed in "Dri" then tap on driving. This has to be done in the app or the web, whichever you choose.

Sorry @Ton the Fitbit One has never had, and still does not have this feature. This is a request with a mockup display of how it might work.

Currently there are two apps, Drivebit and Travelbit, that will automatically log driving time as driving

I was able to reduce the steps/stairs. Thank you.
Any idea how to stop recording steps while travelling?

I normally use Drivebit on my iphone 5 but after the latest iOS update it stopped working Smiley Sad

Have you tried removing the Drivebit and installing a fresh copy?

HI Rich. Yes, I did, thanks. That's the first thing I tried. I also restarted the phone before reinstalling, but it didn't help. I reported to the developer who promptly replied and promised to look into the issue. I also reported the lack of the editing feature compared to the Android version, and he said that he would look into that as well. Meanwhile I have stopped logging my driving sessions in the Fitbit app, unless I have to drive for hours: I just can't be bothered and instead I've increased my number of steps... It's much more practical.

I honestly have the feeling that this will never be implemented by the Fitbit team since their complete silence about it.

I returned my FitBit and I haven't missed it. Good luck to everyone who was experiencing an issue with  their FitBit. I may come back after the FitBit becomes more accurate.
