Steps versus Distance

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

Apparently for my height of 160cm 1447 steps = 1 km 5788 steps = 4km. Well on my old charge 2 had to hit about 8200 steps to = 4km Problem has increased on my charge 4 9165steps on 7/10/22 = 3.58 k next day 5411 steps = 1.49 k today 5695 steps =1.76. Have manually entered my stride but still not accurate this is so frustrating does anyone please have a solution

2 important pieces of information needed:

1) Are you talking about a specific walk/run or all day total?

2) If a specific walk/run, are you using GPS?

Before posting, re-read to see if it would make sense to someone else not looking at your Fitbit or phone.

Hi there @kass54, it's good to see you back in the Community. @JohnnyRow thanks for the support.

I understand how you feel about this situation and the distance differences. Fitbit devices calculate distance based on the device’s accelerometer data and stride length setting. Default stride length is based on the height and gender registered in the Fitbit account. If available, Fitbit devices use GPS data to calculate more precise distances. When you sync your device, our algorithm interprets the data from the device, and you can see the distance traveled in the Fitbit app.

Note that when you track an exercise with GPS, both GPS and accelerometer data are used to calculate the distance shown in the Fitbit app.

Also I'd recommend you check these articles, How accurate are Fitbit devices? and How does my Fitbit device calculate my daily activity? for more information.

You can also contact our Support Team for assistance.

Hope this helps.
