Watch burst off my arm & the clasp is broken

Ive put a warranty claim in & ordered cheap amazon one for now But how can I track steps in meantime please

Just for steps, put it in a pocket, or take completely off strap and put in bra.  Of course you will not get heart rate data, might get even more accurate step count.

Before posting, re-read to see if it would make sense to someone else not looking at your Fitbit or phone.
