Tracking Steps without Phone

I will be  traveling outside of the US in a couple of weeks, I will be wearing my fitbit but it won't be synced to my phone.  My question is once it syncs will it go back and populate all the steps by day?

As long as you sync once every 30 days you should be fine. Your tracker doesn't need the phone to count steps, only to sync them.
