Tracking certain distance

I use a Charge 2 and am currently training for my first 10K. I've been using the C25K app so far and am now on the final workout which is essentially, 'run 5K'. So far I've been running for a certain number of minutes and just seeing how far I've run in that time, but I was wondering is it possible to set up the workout so that my Fitbit alerts me when I've run 5km and I can just see how long it's taken me? I can't seem to find any information on how to do this or even if it's possible.

Thanks!

Hi @Blondie1536,

As far as I know, there isn't a way to have an alert based on reaching a certain distance. Using the Run shortcut on the tracker will show you time, distance and pace, but you'd have to check that on the tracker during the workout.

There might be a phone app that can do exactly what you want, and if you're using Connected GPS with the Charge 2 the phone would then be with you during the run anyway. I find much more accurate distance when using the tracker with the phone's GPS.

Thanks for a quick response, I was afraid that would be the answer haha! I do always have my phone with me and I track my distance but just as a personal thing I don't like to check my distance while I'm running as it sometimes affects my motivation. But I guess I'll just have to suck it up and check when I think I've done something like 5K.

Thanks again for your response 🙂

This is years late, but I found that if you go into advanced settings, you can change the unit of measure to “centimeters, kilometers” and it’ll track kilometers. Then you can set the cues to talk every km or 5K. Hope this helps!!

Thanks for the response anyway!

I never learned that trick but that certainly would have been helpful. I’ve since upgraded to a Charge 3 which has the feature I was originally looking for 🙂
