What is transparent live tile and what does it do if ON or OFF?

"Transparent Live Tile" is in Advanced Settings with an ON or OFF choice and no explanation.  I can't figure it out either. Searching the Fitbit resources just leads back to this sole question. Please advise. Thanks.
