Two fitbit Charge 2 - two different gps distances

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

My wife has a charge 2 with an Iphone 10xr.

I have a charge 2 with an Iphone 6s.

We did the same hike today.  Both have GPS enabled on our phones & fitbits.

When we ended my wife's phone fitbit says 9.9 miles

My phone fitbit says 8.93 miles

When looking at the map of our hikes, but trails show the exact same starting and finish points.

Why is there more than a mile difference in the GPS Distance?

Was your trackers in the run recording mode @steve.bend.

No one has been able to verify or find anything from Fitbit that when recording a walk or hike that Fitbit used GPS for distance. Also when hiking in a heavy covered woods GPS does have issues.

To the best I can tell the strides may need adjusting, also when hiking in the woods a users stride is not very consistant.

I am having the exact same problem, sorta.  Using HIKE mode at least 2-3 times a week, sync with my phone map, it is always been within a .1 mile on distance from my very expensive GPS that I carry.  Since it was so close I quit carrying the GPS on shorter hikes.  Well, as of this summer all of a sudden my Fitbit Charge 2 was not getting accurate distances anymore.  I would hike the same hike I had done before, the distance comes from connection to Google Maps.  Comparing to past hikes (I download my GPS to computer after every hike) and suddenly a 3 mile hike shows only 2 miles, etc.  Even though it shows exactly the same track, it isn't giving me the same distance for that same hike I have done before.

Weird.  It is just a recent thing, but annoying as I now have to take the GPS to get an accurate distance to the hikes (I am a hiking group leader).  Weird, just totally weird and annoying.  It gives me steps but not the correct mileage.

I just pulled out a paper map of the trail we did today.  Paper map says our loop was 3.02 miles.  Fitbit track using HIKE mode and connected to my phone Google map shows exact same track, exact same track... as 1.96 miles.  Stride length has nothing to do with that.
