Hi @Gabriella7 first of all, which Charge do you have? There is a different forum for Charge 3 and Charge 4. If you look at your app, it will tell you which one you have. Let us know, so we can move this to that forum for you.
You shouldn't poke at the hole, but here are the directions to restart your device. It's similar to rebooting your phone. click to read

@Gabriella7 did you follow the directions to restart the Fitbit? You need the app on your phone in order to use the Fitbit.
