charge 2 not holding charge

After the new update to the app (don't know if it has anything to do with it) my charge 2 went from holding charge for at least a week to not even a day. It has been the last 4 days it will die before the day is over.

My fit bit charge 2 just started having issues this week after having it 10 months.  The green lights flash non-stop and the battery doesn't last 24 hours. I have am not using notifications or anything else to drain the battery suddenly.  Some have said that it is the battery.   How can I get this taken care of ASAP?

Hey @Vrvelin, it is great to see new members around! Cat Happy How long is the battery of your Charge 2 lasting lately? In the meantime, I'd like you to review the tips in this post to make the battery of your tracker last longer. If the issue persists, and the battery is draining very quickly, let me know, and I'll further assist you.

Keep me posted!

In the last several months (since August/September) my wife's charge 2 will not hold a charge. Long story short she is ready to throw the thing away.  I looked at it over the weekend and performed all of the suggested tips to preserve battery life.  I removed it from the charger at 7 am today, and by 2 pm it was dead.

What are our options to getting this thing fixed?

Thanks

Hey @Indranik, it is great to see you around more often! Oh! I'm sorry to hear about what has happened with your Charge 2, since the battery is running out too fast. On the other hand, I appreciate you have taken the time to contact our Support team for further help, even though, it seems that their response didn't meet your expectations.

I understand you've invested in the Fitbit products, however we as any other company have policies to follow through. While customer satisfaction remains our number one goal, the demands of running a global business require that we enforce our warranty consistently, this is why different options are offered to our users, depending on their country of residence and the time that has passed since they purchased their Fitbit.

If there any questions present, please let me know and I'll be glad to help.

Like many things- seems there is an internal clock in products- that knows when it just went out of warranty..  Got a new expensive paper weight.

They will only replace it if it's within the first year of purchase. After that your on your own. I've been through this before with two of my other trackers. The only reason I still buy them is that they are the only ones that sync to Weigh Watcher's.

Mine too! I used to go a week without needing a charge and now it doesn't hold a charge longer than a day. I don't even want to wear it anymore that is how aggravated I am with this.

The responses by "customer service" personnel on this and other threads have further convinced me, beyond any doubt, that fitbit is a dishonest company that I no longer wish to do ANY business with, and will no longer support.

To the fitbit company employees posing as customers that posted the glowingly happy reviews about how customer service quickly solved their problem by sending a "new one" (you mean battery, of course, because there ARE no new fitbit Charge 2's in stock to send out), please help me out by answering the following:

1) How do you explain why your battery (that was working perfectly and holding a charge for days and days) suddenly went bad, just following the update that fitbit pushed out?

2) How does fitbit explain the fact that so many people are having the same identical issue, just following their update?  Is this a massive global coincidence that so many people who have had months and years of no battery-life issues suddenly all now can't hold a charge for a full day, and the only event that all these people have in common is that the battery life issue started just after they installed the update?

3) And, if you are one of the happy "customers" who received a new battery from customer service, did they also send you the tooling and instructions needed to change it?  Because, unless you are a watchmaker or do other work with extremely small screws and fittings, you would have had to spend some time finding and buying the jeweler's sized tools needed.

4) And how did you get the screen off in order to get to the panel where the screws are?  Did fitbit send you the heat gun to heat up the display screen and the very thin pry tool needed to pry the screen off to gain access to the miniature screws that remove the internal panel that covers the battery?  Did they give you instructions on how to depress the clip that holds in the ribbon connector and detach it without breaking it?

I for one refuse to run out like a sheep (as fitbit intends) and buy a new fitbit because the company, either deliberately and maliciously, or because of a stupid programming error they will not admit, made a perfectly good Charge 2, with years of remaining useful life, go into instant battery-drain mode.

I will be shopping for a new activity tracker this coming Monday ...  But it  WILL NOT  be a fitbit brand.

This will be a great business school case study some day, about how a very successful company, with an iconic brand, unparalleled market-share and tremendous customer-loyalty, totally tanked themselves, either because of their short-term greed and need to move new product, or their failure to admit and correct their programming mistake.

My fitbit has suddenly stopped holding a charge too. It will say it's 100%, but dies within an hour. Just started doing this. I've tried cleaning the tracker and the charger. Left in on the charger all night to get a "deep" charge. How am i supposed to track my workouts?

I got a Samsung Galaxy Watch Active. With a third party app it syncs with
Fitbit and Weight watchers.

I have the same problem — my Charge 2 has recently stopped holding a charge.  I don’t know what info you sent to Coach, but I would really appreciate the same info!

Thanks!

I switched to the Samsung Galaxy watch active. Bought a an app that
converted Samsung steps into Fitbit steps. I use mine for Weight Watchers
and Samsung is not compatible. I have a two year warranty if anything
happens I get it replaced for free.

I called up their customer support and talked with a rep. If the device is still within the the initial 1 year warranty period, then you shouldn't have a problem getting it replaced (which was my case). If you've had it longer than a year you may be limited in options.

Hope this helps

Not if it's a battery issue, I already looked into it. You will have to
send it in and they will decide if it qualifies or not. Not a high success
rate.

Mine started acting up 3 days ago. I can only get about 8 hours on it now. It seemed to have started when the app started crashing when entering the exercise area. The crashing is fixed but my battery issue persists.

I am wondering if it's because they are phasing out the charge 2.
