As your fitbit is already set up and running it should just be a case of logging on to the app using the same email and password as before - there's no need to go through the setup again. Why do you think it's still linked to the iPhone?

Well, the Note II is on the list of compatible phones so that's not the issue.
The V122 message is the firmware version and indicates that the restart procedure has worked.
Weird.
There are a few more troubleshooting steps in this article but I'm afraid I'm stumped:

I'm sure you've solved this by now, but just in case others stumble upon this problem, I solved this by selecting add a new device in the fitbit add and setting the watch up again. Once the setup pin is entered it sat on connecting for about 10 minutes before it worked but now is setup fine.

Hi thegraham, just to say THANK YOU for your post. It solved my problem. I've had my fitbit HR since December 2016, moved phone from iPhone 4S to Sony xperia X in May 2017 and it had been working without any problems until an update in Dec 2017. It would then just synch very erratically and stopped synching all at once a couple of months after. As my watch was still synching with my old iPhone, that was the only way I could keep it in synch. I have tried all the methods that had been suggested on forums and somehow just found yours (among the thousands) today. And it WORKED! you've made a really happy person today. THANK YOU again.
