That shouldn't be a problem. Make sure he deletes the Fitbit app from his phone and removes any link to the fitbit in its bluetooth settings.

Then, install the app to your phone, set up an account for yourself and add his fitbit as though it were a new device. It will delete any data left on it and reassign it to your account.

HE NO LONGER HAS THE PHONE THAT HE BOUND THE WATCH TO.

OK, no need to shout. If he doesn't have the phone then it won't be an issue. Just create an account for yourself and add the fitbit.

Oops sorry for shouting. I have done this and Bluetooth can't find the
device.

Have you checked that your phone works with Fitbit at www.fitbit.com/devices ?

Ahhh. Never thought of that. My phone is not compatible. My Samsung is but
would I need to have it with me all the time or can I just sync when I get
home

Fitbits can hold up to 7 days data between syncs, so syncing when you get home would be fine.
