Auto Tracking is not working after update

I have had two cases now where auto tracking is no longer recording exercise since this latest update.  I went for a 50 minute bike ride outside on pavement and it recorded nothing.  I have the auto track turned on and it used to work.  Similar thing happened the other day with working out - used to work just fine and now not tracking.

The auto tracking is now recognizing swimming when I'm house cleaning...this is frustrating! (I've shut off auto recognize swimming as it is something that I rarely do but from the other posts I've read it this seems to be a common problem)

I have tried restarting the fitbit 3 times, I have reviewed how to be wearing it - again used to work and the only change has been the update.

Is there a way to undo the update?

Today after another bike ride was not auto-recognized I called the help line and spoke to a really nice gentleman who helped me out.  I did a factory reset and then went for another bike ride and this one was logged.  I haven't been able to see if the auto sport recognition is working now too but I'm hoping that since it stopped working along with the biking that it will be fixed with this reset as well.  Tech support was very helpful and friendly, I highly recommend contacting them!  Thanks Fitbit!

To do the Factory reset - I synced the Fitbit to my phone, then on the Fitbit went to settings and hit the reset - had to hold for 3 seconds.

Hi @Oneblackdoodle, thanks for stopping by.  Thanks a million for all the information that you've shared in your post. I'll be glad to give you a hand with the SmartTrack feature.

Thanks for trying those steps. Please note that your Fitbit device records your swims regardless of your swimming ability, meaning you can swim about 6 to 12 lengths of the pool without stopping to rest. If you’re unable to swim this distance, you may notice inconsistencies in your swim data including some lengths not counted. As your swimming ability improves, you’ll likely notice fewer inconsistencies in your data.

As you mentioned in your post your need to wear your Inspire HR a finger's width above your wrist bone. This is really helpful.

Remember always check the pool length information, to ensure it is accurate:

  • On your device, open the Exercise app > Swim.
  • Swipe up and tap Pool Settings.

As you're comparing it with SmartTrack, when you're using this option your device automatically recognizes and records high-movement activities at least 15 minutes long. I'd suggest to confirm the amount of time required for the activity to be recorded.

It can be changed on your Fitbit App:
  1. On the Fitbit app dashboard, tap the Exercise tile to open your exercise history.
  2. Tap the gear icon
  3. Tap an exercise and adjust the duration or turn off Auto-recognize.

I'd like to mention that, if the same activity gives you a certain amount of lengths one day and fewer the next day, remember that the intensity of exercise is key. Often what seems like the exact same amount of effort over the same distance in fact differs slightly enough to change your number of total lengths.

What are the activities that are you trying to record with SmartTrack? There is no option to undo an update, but I'd like to have more details to confirm if this is related to the currents issues that you're having.

Let me know how it goes, I'll be around!

The problem is that my fitbit is auto-recognizing swimming when I'm NOT swimming.  It thought house cleaning was swimming...I have shut off the auto-recognize swimming as it is an exercise I don't use.

Also, after the update it is no longer auto tracking biking or working out - 2 things that I used all the time before and they worked great.  I have not changed how I wear the fitbit - the problem is the update.
