Calories logged when Fitbit is not being worn

I just got a Fitbit and did not wear it to bed.  When I got up and put it on it already logged 315 calories burned.  Why is that?

Those are your BMR (basal metabolic rate) calories, that you are always burning just by being alive.  They are always credited, even when not wearing the tracker.  They are also back-filled in history before you started wearing it.

For more on this, see

How does my Fitbit device calculate calories burned?

Before posting, re-read to see if it would make sense to someone else not looking at your Fitbit or phone.
