Cant find the pencil to edit exercise

Hello all,

I'm trying to edit my walk from yesterday on my inspire HR. The  directions say:

To delete the exercise, tap the trash icon. To edit the exercise, tap the pencil icon.

There is no pencil icon...just the trash can.

Where is it hiding?

Thanks!

I might have the explanation.  Did you manually log the walk?  If so, you cannot edit it.  But you can delete it (from the 3 buttons beside where pencil would be), and then log it again how you wanted it to be.

Before posting, re-read to see if it would make sense to someone else not looking at your Fitbit or phone.

Since you don't say where you are doing this from: Android, IOS, Windows 10 app, fitbit.com dashboard, I'll go with Android.

Strange.  I have no idea why.

I thought maybe you were on wrong app from the instructions, but you were looking right place.

You could try editing it from fitbit.com dashboard.  Click 'Dashboard' near top right of  this page > Log > Activities > Activity History.

I simply don't understand how this is good enough? Why does it matter if it is manually logged?

It is extremely common to forget to stop the workout session, you are exhausted, it happens. But you can't simply shorten it to when you actually finished. You have to delete and enter it manually.

This is a really weird decision to make software wise, to not implement this feature. Moreover, on the android app when you want to re enter the details, it's hard to find when you actually started, since that time is not displayed in the exercise details, and is often truncated for no apparent reason (... ellipsis dots) in the logged exercise list. So it says "Today at 1...". There is nothing else in the row, why truncate it?

This is by far the most frustrating thing about Fitbit software for me, and the fact that the help guide says it's possible without specifying this "manually logged" rule simply then wastes a lot of your user's time.

Wow, I just tried to upload some screenshots, but even your community software is poorly executed and lacking user experience. Are you seriously telling me that a user has to upload their image to another server, then link to that image from here!

What is going on here? Seriously. These sorts of features are remedial to implement at best. How can I do anything other than recommend a different manufacturer to anyone who asks me about my device?

Sorry Johnny, I assumed you worked for them. I take that back.

To post image here, use the camera icon just above the text entry box.  Then I use "Choose files" which lets me locate the image file on my PC.

You are correct. Now that I try it again, that is the experience I am getting as well. Thanks for getting back on that one, as providing screen shots when moaning about something is probably more useful as it provides context.

I have no idea why I got a different dialog earlier today. It had 4 inputs, much more similar to the "Insert/edit link" dialog.

I'm having the same issue and having no luck with the website dashboard; activities history. Is there another way to edit an activity? The only thing clicking on the 3 dots does is ask if I want to export the activity log or delete it. Its pretty annoying that I can't update the log correctly without losing all of the data collected.
