Cant get my Inspire to recieve written text messages

I have the Inspire fitbit. I went through my notification setting, text settings, messenger setting and everything else you could think of. When someone sends me a text to my phone, my fitbit will vibrate and say "message- 1 new message. new" then if u swipe the fitbit, it says "close x". While my friends fitbit will show who they got a text from and what it reads. Ugh! I even called costumer service and they couldn't figure it out!  HELP!!!!

From my own experience with Android, I had to tell the Fitbit app AND the phone to allow notifications to properly work. Might that be your case?
