Hi!
When I log a running exercise, it gives a lower distance than what I actually did. I've seen people explaining this by Fitbit's calculation of stride length * steps, but this did not seem to help the problem. I have changed my running stride to approx. 1.10m, but my last run recorded 4500 steps and calculated a distance of 4.4km (should have been 5km according to the formula and the actual distance). Note: the run was days after I had changed my stride length.
However... I once accidentally pressed bike ride as an activity, and the distance was completely right! It seems as if my Fitbit Inspire HR uses my phone's GPS for logging a bike ride (as there are no steps taken so the formula does not work). So, this indicates it is possible for my Fitbit to use my phone's GPS... Then, is it also possible to do this for logging a run instead of the steps calculation process?
Sure, I can just log my activity as a bike ride to at least get the right distance and pace, but I prefer to log my activities as how I have actually done them (run = run). And yes, I know you can do it manually as well, but I like the insights of seeing heart rate and pace displayed over the map.
Thanks in advance. 🙂
