Distance discrepancy when walking

I’ve only had my Inspire HR for 1 week, so still learning. Last night’s walk, I logged 11.5 kilometres. Unlike the previous walk, no Google map was included when I synced to the iPhone. Today I drove the same route clocking-up 13.4 kilometres. Would you say without bluetooth/GPS involvement, the HR would be out this much? Would adjusting stride length manually take care of this? Exercise recognition is disabled. Manual Start & Stop. Thank you.

I expect it is stride length.  Without GPS, fitbit calculates distance as number of steps times stride length.  It sets a stride length for you based on your height and other physical data, but that is bound to be off somewhat.

Here is a description of how to measure and set your stride length:

How do I measure and adjust stride length for my Fitbit device?

Note there are separate stride lengths for walking and running.

If you want to try a quick adjustment without measuring stride length, based on your posted data, if you multiply stride length by (13.4 / 11.5), that should get you closer, within the error of car odometer.

Before posting, re-read to see if it would make sense to someone else not looking at your Fitbit or phone.
