GPS distance accuracy

I've had my Inspire HR for close to a year, before that I had the Charge HR for a couple of years.

While I have been mostly happy with the Inspire, over the past month or so the GPS tracking is way off. One day I'll run a route and it will track it as 6km and a few days later I will run the exact same route but it's only tracked at 5.2kms.

I use to notice the GPS would become more inaccurate when updates were released. But I would simply install the updates, restart my phone and Inspire and it would go back to normal, that is not the case now.

Today I ran a run that my Fitbit tracked as 12kms but when I mapped it out on onthegomaps.com my run was only 10.5kms, how can my Fitbit be off by SO much?! I should also say that I have a Pixel 2 and am on Android 10.

Hi @Aparr81, welcome to the Community Forums! Sorry for the delay in responding your post.

Thanks for bringing this to our attention and for the details that were shared, your effort troubleshooting this situation before posting is appreciated. First, let me share with you that your Inspire HR tracks GPS data using the GPS chip of your mobile device with the Connected-GPS feature, therefore, I suggest you to check: Why isn't GPS working on my Fitbit device?

and then restart your Fitbit.

Let me know if the issue persists and if you have any additional questions.

Thank you for your reply.

I have done all the things that are suggested on the link you shared and even went so far as uninstalling and reinstalling the Fitbit app. I have done 3 runs since am still experiencing the same inaccurate GPS readings. I have installed the Strava running app on my phone and it gives me accurate GPS readings. I'm unsure why this app works properly (also using the GPS chip from my phone) but my Fitbit just can't seem to get it right? The main reason I use my Fitbit is for tracking my runs and I'm disappointed that it it's even doing that. If this is something that isn't or can not be fixed in the near future I will be switching to a reliable activity tracker, this is very frustrating to me.

Thank you for your time.
