HR inconsistent

I was doing a HIIT workout and it was registering up to 146 on my wrist, which is beyond my 136 peak level - I was excited! Then, later I saw my HR stats on the dashboard, and it said I never got out of my cardio range and into the peak level at all. I'm bummed. Why did this happen?

I was listening to the medical show on Sirius XM satellite radio. The cardiologist on the show said that cardio levels on fitness trackers often record the heart rate as higher than it really is. It's entirely possible the stats on the dashboard are correct.

When you see the stats on the watch it is in real time (as your heart rate is being measured). On the app you dont see the very high or very low peaks that dont last long, as the app averages the measurements for each 5 minute period. So if you were consistently high for a considerable time, it would show as peak in the app, but if you  hit the high numbers monemtarily, the averaging will lower the reading. I think that is probably what you are seeing here.
