Inaccurate Swimming Calories

I just started using my Fitbit again while I enter a caloric deficit. One of my favorite work outs is swimming. I know it can’t track heart rate during the swimming exercise, but it tells me I’ve only burned a measly 118cals after a 1000m swim!

livestrong website estimates that calorie expenditure to be at least double, almost triple at 360cals per 1000m freestyle.

Im doing maximum effort, I think the calorie expenditure is grossly underestimated.

any way to get the swim calories more accurate?

Hi @HannahLorra No, I don't think there is. Fitbit uses a different algorithm for calculating calories than some other sites, but it uses what it uses and you can't change that. You  might be using maximum effort, but without heart rate your Fitbit doesn't know this. Whether the calorie deficit is shown correctly or not, you have still burnt them. So comfort yourself with that if you can 😆
