Please could someone explain why the Fitbit inspire 2 I purchased directly from fit.com on 5th January 2023, and subsequently proved to be faulty, losing connectivity 10+ times a day, many hours spent in chat to customer support over several frustrating day has been replaced by a refurbished device and not a new one?

Hi @Smartee26 warranty and replacement information can be found here - click to read. The Inspire 2 is no longer being sold on the Fitbit Store site, so it's probably discontinued. When an item is discontinued, they do the best with the remaining stock on hand when a device needs replacing.
