Inspire 2 stopped tracking my GPS data

The Inspire 2 watch app will not START and TRACK my walk. It progresses from "walk" to "connecting" to "Connected", but then it will not start the exercise tracking. It was fine before the Google update. The watch now captures no data. If I use the android phone app, it tracks as the watch did before your update, but it gets no heart rate data for the walk.

How do I get the watch to track my exercise again - as it did before your Google update?

Hi there, @jt2022. Thanks for stopping by in the Fitbit Community Forums and sharing the details about the issue with your Inspire 2.

As a first approach, I'd like to let you know that there are some factors that may impact the GPS connectivity. Please take into consideration the following information:

  • Make sure that you have a clear view of the sky when you start the exercise. Environmental factors, including tall buildings, dense forest, steep hills, and even thick cloud cover, can interfere with your phone’s ability to connect to GPS satellites. If the signal is blocked—either because you're indoors, underground, or due to another reason—GPS won't work.
  • Confirm that Bluetooth on your phone is turned on, and your device is connected under your phone’s Bluetooth settings.
  • Make sure that phone is within 30 feet of your device.
  • Make sure that your device can sync with the Fitbit app. For more information, see How do Fitbit devices sync their data?
  • Confirm that the Fitbit app can use your phone's GPS sensors. For more information, see: How do I allow my Fitbit device to use my phone's GPS sensors?

In addition, I'd recommend performing a restart to your Inspire 2 by following the instructions here: How do I restart my Fitbit device?

Regarding your inquiry, we have not seen any correlation between GPS performance and the migration to Google.

I clearly stated that the WATCH "connected" to GPS. I repeat, the problem is that it will not begin the selected exercise.  It says "connected" and will not start the exercise. The WATCH syncs regularly with the phone. GPS is good. Watch synced.  The phone app will track but the watch does not track, ever since the recent Google update. The phone app does not record heart rate data.

I restarted the fitbit 2 easily and it rebooted normally. The watch is functioning normally. The settings shows it is connected to GPS. My GPS reception here is unchanged - very good.  That Google update is faulty

pure obfuscation response.

Update on Inspire 2 watch function: It works NOW after Google fixed the phone app so that it tracks your exercise, which is useable, maybe easier to use. But the exercise step count is not shown. I use it to grade my form. And the watch is now just a data collector for the app. Go to dashboard settings to organize your exercises again, fix what got mixed, etc. .
