Inspire 2 won’t come out of water lock. Can’t restart it, because the side buttons aren’t responsive.

I had this the other day. It logged 8.5 hours swimming (I was not in the pool at all). I couldn't stop it the whole time.

Hi everyone,
To turn off water lock, firmly double-tap the middle of the screen with your finger. If you don't see "Unlocked" appear on screen, try tapping harder. Turning off this feature uses the accelerometer in your device, which takes more force to activate. Note that water lock turns on automatically when you start a swim in the Exercise app
You can find this information and more in this article on navigating your Inspire 2.

Kate, I apologize for the misunderstanding, but when I am sitting at my desk, there is no reason for water lock to automatically turn itself on. And it happens ALL THE TIME...at my desk, while I am driving, while I am on the elliptical, while I am walking in the store. No rhyme, no reason, but importantly NO WATER.

@Laurel67 That's not the experience we want you to have for sure. You may want to try wearing it higher on your wrist or looser.

Oh, PLEASE STOP TELLING US THAT THE ISSUE WITH WATER LOCK IS OPERATOR ERROR!!!!!!!!!!!
i have an inspire 2 that constantly turns on water lock, even though it has NEVER BEEN IN WATER. Just humidity will turn it on. AND THIS IS AFTER I TURNED ON BUTTON LOCK after I was told that would stop it turning on water lock by itself. It still turns on water lock constantly, and to further make this really annoying, having BUTTON LOCK on seems to severely impact the battery, which I have to charge every THREE DAYS instead of every ten which was what the advertising says. So BUTTON LOCK doesn't work as it is supposed to either, and doesn't wholly stop the problem. FURTHER, sometimes it is next to impossible to get it to turn off WATER LOCK without hooking up the charger and rebooting the device.
WATER LOCK IS A MAJOR PROBLEM with this device. WATER LOCK should not be designed to turn on by itself, PERIOD. It should turn on only like any other option and turn off the same way, on settings menu. Because it is next to impossible to get it off WATER LOCK, and when you do get it off water lock, it is next to impossible at times to get it to go back to the regular display. You turn water lock off, it won't go back to the display, then it goes back into water lock. WHEN ALL YOU WANT TO DO IS SEE THE REGULAR FACE. Sometimes you actually have to CHANGE THE FACE to get it to work again.
I am so disgusted that FITBIT has done nothing to fix this problem. I will never buy another device from this company. BAD ENOUGH the device is one of the buggiest pieces of crap I've ever bought. I keep hoping, since this supposedly started with a software update, that FITBIT will FINALLY POST ON THIS THREAD THAT THEY'VE FIXED IT. WORSE IS HAVING MODERATORS tell those of us who paid good money for something that doesn't work to tell us how it is supposed to work, when we've tried that, NUMEROUS TIMES, and it friggin DOESN'T fix it. You needn't add insult to injury.

I have moved it up, I've moved it down, I've warn it tighter, I've warn it looser, I've removed it, changed bands, change bands back, cleaned it, ETC ETC. It is not a placement problem, it is an Inspire 2 problem that not only needs to be recognized, but acknowledged and fixed.

This happens to mine regularly. Do a hard restart: Put your Inspire 2 on the charging thingy. Then press and hold the side buttons. It takes a slow count of about 20, but eventually you will see a little smiley face. That means it has done a hard restart. This fixes the freeze. I've made the habit of doing a restart every time I do a charge.

Thank you for sharing how you were able resuscitate your Fitbit!.
Here's a recap of my black screen experience:
Immediately prior to experiencing the Fitbit
equivalent of the Black Screen of Death, I had been charging my phone. I was about to go to bed so I took the watch off of the charger, removed my glasses and then put the watch back on my wrist.
As I was placing the watch back on my wrist, I saw the lock icon appear on the screen along with some words; unfortunately, since I had removed my glasses, I couldn't make out the words that appeared.
I suddenly remembered that I had encountered the lock icon before. That time, I forgot to take the Fitbit off before stepping into the shower. Fortunately, I had my contacts in so I was able to read the message and it asked me if I wanted to turn the lock on while I was in the shower, Of course I answered yes.
Based upon that incident and since I couldn't read the exact words on the screen tonight, I assumed that it was making the same offer. I thought I chose the option to leave the lock open. Apparently, I chose the wrong option. After multiple unsuccessful attempts to turn the device back on, the next logical step would be to return it to the charger. Rather than following my instinct, I logged on to the community and I was happily surprised to read that you came to the same conclusion and returned your device to the charger and that by doing so you fixed the problem. After feeling validated, I put my watch back on the charger and my device immediately turned back on. I hope that your experience and my experience will be helpful to those who come seeking an answer to this prob)l

I changed the clock face multiple times, it didn't stop the water lock from randomly coming on....

I 100% AGREE!!! I have contacted tech support, I have emailed, I have called, I have done the online chat, I have reset the Fitbit, I have deleted my app and reinstalled it, I have worn it up, I've worn it down, I have charged it, I have let it go to 0 battery, I have tightened it, AND I have loosened it. The Inspire 2 is THE WORST Fitbit the company has made and the lack of acknowledgement that there is a significant problem is not only upsetting but completely unprofessional and irresponsible. I will never buy another product from them and will not encourage anyone else to either. I GIVE UP.

Is there any way to for the 'watchdog' feature or turn off water lock in the app?
