I’ve had my Inspire HR since December 2019 and have been using it to track my runs and walks.
Usually, I let it auto detect my activity which means I don’t see my run pace but I can calculate it myself based on distance and activity time. But recently, I decided to test the watch’s built in exercise feature on a run.
At the end of the run, the data it gave me about my pace seemed accurate to what I have been manually recording (about 9:30 min/mile). On my next run, I tried it again but it said my pace was much slower, about 14:00 min/mile which seemed inaccurate and didn’t match the known distance I had run.
I thought maybe it was an issue with the GPS signal as I had spotty cell service so I tried it once more on a run in my neighborhood. Again, it said my pace was much slower, about 13 min/mile and I had run only 2/3 as far as I actually did.
On all 3 runs, my watch said it connected to my phone’s GPS so I’m wondering why the data was so off on 2 of those runs. I also tried connecting my Fitbit to Strava and tracking my run that way and it said I only ran 4 miles when I ran 6.2, and my pace was much slower again.
I’m thinking there might be an issue with my phone’s GPS but why would Fitbit accurately record one run and not the rest?

This morning, I did a quick test of the Exercise feature where I compared the distance my Inspire HR says I’ve traveled to the distance the Exercise feature says by sprinting for 30 seconds and again, the time and distance was way off! The Exercise feature said I had traveled only 0.03 miles with a speed of 24 min/mile while the Fitbit itself said I had gone 0.1 miles in the same amount of time, so more than three times what the Exercise feature said!
My Inspire HR said it was connected to my phone and told me to open up the Fitbit app which I did, but it still isn’t working. Clearly my sprint pace is not that slow!
