Inspire HR adding steps while swimming

Hi.

I was wondering if anyone could help me with the step issue I seem to be having recently with my HR. For the past few days whenever I go swimming my HR Inspire has been adding steps - between 500-800 steps during my morning swim. I'm not able to delete these steps - logging an activity doesn't get rid of these steps either.

Swimming usually auto logs for me, with steps at N/A - yet the past few days even though the steps have been N/A I still have hundreds of steps counted between 6:15am and 7:30am (while I'm in the pool) - I will delete the auto log and manually add an activity and still the steps remain.

Is there any way to delete these? I'm trying really hard to increase my activity level and I'd rather not have to add up how many steps my fitbit has detected incorrectly when I know during that time I'm not walking.

My fitbit is also on my non dominant hand registered as dominant.

Any help with this would be great.
Thanks =D

Hello @SunsetRunner, it's good to see you around in the forums, thank you for sharing your injury.

I really appreciate the time you've taken to troubleshoot your Fitbit Inspire HR. Sorry this didn't work for you.

About the steps that you get while swimming, currently there is no way to completely turn off step counting when your performing this activity, and it's possible that you will get some steps recorded; the movement you actually do while swimming could be interpreted as steps. These steps will be superseded by the detected swimming session, so you have a better calorie burn estimation on your account, but it won't mean that steps won't be counted at all.

However, the amount of steps shouldn't be exaggerated, if you're getting way to many steps recorded, please try performing a restart following these steps, and check if you continue to experience the same behavior.

Keep me posted.
