Inspire HR not tracking stairs

I just got my Inspire HR and I love it. But, it is not tracking stairs climbed. I live in a home with stairs everywhere, so it's already missed 12 flights of stairs climbed today. Is there a way to fix this?

It's defiantly BAIT. They list it as having this ability + was told by seller it did so. False advertising to be sure. Why should I trust a company like Fitbit now? Lie to me and you've lost a customer. Will never buy a Fitbit again.

In the UK if an item is advertised with false claims it would be possible to return it and get a full refund.  The retailer and or advertiser might also be prosecuted.

In fact, in the UK, retailers are fairly willing to take items back and give a refund.  Some retailers have a policy that you can return an item withing 28 days for a refund with no questions asked.

Just got mine, false advertising, this is my third since 2015 and now doesn't have stairs. Will return and go with another brand that takes care of their customers.

I was also disappointed that the Inspire HR did not track stairs, however, nowhere on the Fitbit site does it state it does so, so all these posts regarding bait and false advertising are incorrect.  Some of the other trackers possibly do have stairs.  I want to further say that Fitbit customer service is AMAZING.  Did you call them?  I lost my very first clip on tracker and I called to ask if I could get a discount if I purchased another; instead the rep at Fitbit sent me another for FREE.  I love the product and the company.

Hi mshea,

The website clearly states under exercise features "Floors Climbed - Automatically track floors climbed whether you're taking the stairs or walking up an incline" so yes people are disappointed and rightfully so.  On fitbit.com towards the middle of the page you will see a "See all features and Spec" link and right there it lists Floors Climbed.  I would attach a picture but it will not allow it.  😃

There are a lot of us who have used the Fitbit One for a very long time and were disappointed that it was not replaced with something better.  Stairs tracking is big for a lot of people.  Just wanted to clarify this and let you know that there is a reason that many people said they were upset.

It looks like they actually removed the feature from their website very recently, I am pretty sure I took a screenshot of it.  They must have edited it due to this thread. That is really bad that they would do that and not make it right with people who purchased this based on that false information.

I agree. My main exercise's are walking and stair climbing and I bought the Inspire HR specifically for this. Fine for the walking but useless for stair climbing. I feel cheated out of $. If it wasn't for the great people here with their comments Fitbit probably would still be selling with false advertisement. Very disappointed in Fitbit and probably will never buy again from this company.

By the way. there is another thread going (sorry do not have the link on me) where the Moderators here took note about the false claim on the Inspire webpage and all of our comments and passed it on to the...whoever. they do say that they will fix it. Maybe that's why it's showing now no stair climbing option on the page? Guess they corrected it. too late for us who bought the device though. If I had known I would have bought one which actually does count stairs.

I will be returning my inspire HR Fitbit

^100% The part about buying a more expensive model of you want that feature, although it is lame if there was info making it seem like floors would be auto-counted that influenced your choice. As an exercise mode, that's not missing btw, many exercise modes aren't automatically detected.

But yeah, the tech might go "backward" because they've left out a part that makes the model more expensive for a feature not everyone cares about. Idk about you guys but my Charge 2 cost almost twice what my Inspire cost, even without stuff I do care about, like water resistance.

Also, I have small wrists and this model is a slimmer more comfortable size, probably for the same reason.

I have owned Fitbit's since the original. FitBit seems to half **ahem** their product development. From the first one that thousands had to be recalled because the metal lock for the rubber straps.then problems with straps breaking at the Fitbit. With no replacements available. Screw the customers and we keep buying them because they are really good. But now with my Inspire hr will not measure stairs... are you guys kidding me??? To me it seems that none of the development guys use Fitbit's otherwise the product would be tons better. Instead of going backward. You can ge the stair count using Google Fit, but unfortunately it doesn't share with Fitbit. Also Samsung  health... DONT HOLD YOUR BREATH... But there is a light at the end of the tunnel, Google is working on closing the purchase of Fitbit...

When I was searching for a replacement for my One, the Inspire came up for tracking stairs. Climbing stairs is something I enjoy during free time at work.
Since I received my Inspire It has not tracked any stairs. I have not been able to find a setting that may have been disable. Reading other comments it appears Fitbit has provided false information, a form of Bait and Switch.
Fitbit should either update the Inspire to count stairs or provide a free replacement tracker which ACTUALLY does track stairs.
Quite disappointed Fitbit discontinued the One.

I just followed the quiz for choosing a tracker and the Inspire still comes up as one that tracks stairs.
Fitbit needs to compensate those who chose\purchased an Inspire in order to track stairs.

I am also having this issue...I see that it doesn't actually count stairs...This is very disappointing

I understand. Had 3 HR Fitbits, they all broke much too fast. So I went for Garmin, which is a bit the same. Back to Fitbit I realise it is not counting climbed stairs and although it is waterproof is not counting swimming ! What a big step backwards...
