have charged it. Have tried plugging it in and resetting until get the smiley face - but no smiley face appears - only the battery percentage - have tried holding button in for varying amounts of time around 5 secs as others say.

Phone / website say that it was synced - but the steps are 0 as they are on the fitbit! Any other ideas as to how to reset?

How old/new is it to you?  It's just that I had very similar issues to you when I first bought my Inspire back in September 2019 and I just had to be patient with it while it was learning about me and my body.

If you've been using it for less than a month, keep it fully charged (the smiley face) as much as possible and on your wrist/ankle permanently between charges.  Literally the only time I remove my Inspire is to dry it off after a bath or shower and to recharge the battery, so maybe try that for at least a month to see if things start improving for you too?  Also, don't let the charge go below 50% 'cos it stops working then too unfortunately.

Don't expect it to all work immediately, 'cos it does take a while, but things will slowly start appearing in the app and after a couple of months everything will hopefully be working fine for you too.

Also, where are you wearing your Inspire HR?  On your wrist or ankle?  If it's on your wrist then it will count your arm movements instead of steps, so if, like me, step counts are the reason for buying it, then it might be better to wear it on your ankle?  If the HR is the most important bit, then wear it on your wrist but move your arm pretty significantly for every step you take... it's annoying, but it all depends on what's most important to you.
