Is it possible to interrupt Step count?

I just did a weights class, no walking or running involved.  The Inspire "noticed" the movement and added steps to my step count.  Is there any way of stopping the step count for such an activity and restarting it later?  If not, the step count is inaccurate.  Thanks.

Accepted Solutions

Steps are detected from wrist movement as in normal swinging of arms while walking.  As such, there are bound to be some inaccuracy in step count but most people find that it is not significant over the course of a full day.

And there is no way to temporarily turn off step counting.
