Knitting is counting as steps. Really frustrating as trying to gently increase activity but count now very inaccurate. Was not like this a few weeks ago. What should I do

So is mine , I am very disappointed with it , what is the use of buying something to count your steps when every time you move your arm it's counting as steps , ridiculous.

I'm a knitter too, but have never notice any significate addition to my step count, with the exception of unwinding a large piece and rerolling it. Do you have your Fitbit on your dominate wrist? If yes, please try wearing on your other wrist and/or make sure you have the correct setting. If that doesn't do the trick, then we can try other options.
Good luck!

@Juneanne The dominant/non-dominant setting changes the sensitivity of the tracker to movement. Try wearing your tracker on your non-dominant wrist like always with the app setting on Dominant.
I do not knit, but I have mixed hand dominance. I write with my right hand, do some activities left handed, and wear my tracker on my left wrist. My average step count can be as much as 1000 steps per day LOWER with my tracker on my left wrist, but set on Dominant.
@AmandalH I don't have an answer as to why your count would suddenly change. Sorry.

@Juneanne If you tap on the picture of your Inspire HR, you will get to the device settings. You can change the non-dominant to dominant there.

Indeed, if I'm tired, I never knit anymore, because I always lose the count, and then I have to redo. Frankly speaking, I tried many times to knit some clothes and accessories, but I always notice the error only after a few rows and it's incredibly annoying that you can't notice it immediately. So finally, I found the solution and I ordered a knitting machine that saves me from this problem because it is impossible to make a mistake while using it https://www.palmgear.com/best-knitting-machine-reviews/. Indeed, I recommend it, for such people like me it is a real saver and a great helper.
