Hello, I have been using my Inspire HR all summer without an issue. I select "Bike" from the "Exercise" menu on my Inspire HR. The location arrow dart around for a couple seconds, then goes solid and steady indicating "Connected".
Sometimes seconds (usually a few minutes) after starting my bike ride, the GPS is lost and I get a tiny part of my route mapped. For the last 5 days, I have taken the same route.
Sunday mapped fine, 12.19mi
Monday mapped fine, 12.18mi.
*Update to fitbit app was taken Mon after my ride.*
Tues mapped a straight line, 0.48mi.
Wed mapped almost nothing, 0.02mi.
Thurs mapped almost nothing again, 0.06mi.
Anyone else having this issue, or know of any resolution? Is there a new setting with the latest update that I may be missing? Any help would be appreciated.

This same issue has happened to me twice this week now. Tried unpairing/repairing and my GPS disconnected immediately after the start of my run. It seems it's almost certainly the app update.

I'm having the same issue with GPS on my runs. There is no connection to GPS and therefore I am getting no GPS data.
Tried all the usual restarts and check settings/permissions advice.

Perhaps somebody who has been here for a while can explain to me why this is marked answered. I agree that it seems likely that the last update may have caused this problem, but it most certainly is not the answer to solving it.

I am convinced it was the update on the 14th that caused this issue, but because of the smoke from the forest fires in California where I live I have not been doing my normal routine so I did not notice it until later.
My phone is a Pixel 3a xl just for the record as are three of my other family members phones and we all have the same problem.
Day 1
I opened Settings / Apps found the Fitbit app in my list of applications and did Force Stop
I then cleared the storage and cache and uninstalled the application.
I went to the Play Store application “My apps & Games”. selected library from the menu and deleted the remains of the Fitbit application
I then rebooted my phone
I then reinstalled the Fitbit application from the Play Store and was surprised to discover that it still knew of my HR and my scale, so I deleted the HR
My next step was to add the HR and link to the application. This was successful however now besides not being able to connect it would not sync. I gave up in disgust for the day.
Day 2
I looked at my account in the Fitbit application and it said that it had not synced since 9:30 the previous morning. Which seems reasonable since the time on my HR was way off. I then proceeded to delete the HR from the Fitbit app and immediately add it back in and link to the app.
My HR would now connect, the time was correct and most importantly for me it correctly recorded my morning routine with GPS.
It was my renewed effort on the second day and the second deletion and reinstallation of the HR into the Fitbit app that seem to work. I don't know if this will be a permanent fix but I thought I'd let you know what has worked for me.

BTW Fitbit is allowed to access location all the time on my phone

As of a few days ago (I suspect the last time the app was updated on my phone) connected gps on my Versa has basically stopped working. After some delay I can get 'connected' but everytime I check I see a message saying No GPS signal. Connected GPS has always been a bit 'fragile' but at least it worked most of the time. I've tried all the tricks and resets that I've used in the past but to no avail.
I've had to resort to using Strava on my phone to track my rides which of course means no HR data and little point in setting the Versa in exercise mode.

Well I spoke too soon my fix worked for about one day. This morning the exact same problem has returned.
Hey Fitbit how about a solution?

Yeap - same here also.
All starts well, but ca. in 35 sec the app does not use the gps of the phone anymore. It comes back always after i open phone and app on screen so quite clearly it is an **ahem**up in programming...starting to be really pissed off about this "feature", hence the product, since it renders it useless.
After HR's update, the general product went miles to wrong direction, but i think some recent app-update killed the rest.
Not sure, not fully managed to test yet, but i might have figured out a temporary workaround: Did a quick test when i started the workout from HR normally and then activated a walk workout from the app - this seems to force the app-gps-connection to stay active and HR-activated workout runs parallel with connection.
Regardless of possible workaround - lost already interesting and long routes with rental equipment so i am very "greatful" to fitbit to lose this info which is not easy to reproduce.
