Lost Bluetooth pairing and charging issues

The last few days Inspire HR has repeatedly - several times a day - sent a notification that it has 'Lost Bluetooth Pairing' with my Iphone 6s and my Ipad Air 2.  I then have to go through all the steps to tell the phone/Ipad to forget and then re-connect to the Inspire.  Why is this happening repeatedly?  At the same time the Inspire is getting more difficult to charge and randomly suddenly losing massive amounts of charge in a short period.  It is about 18 months old and I was thinking of upgrading at Christmas but am now losing confidence in Fitbit and considering Apple watch.  Plus today went swimming for 45 minutes and it did not recognise this at all.

When you have to reset it up, does it lose your non-synchros steps ?  I am having this issue too
