Lost steps after switching Fitbits

I recently setup a new Inspire HR on the account with my Charge 2. After getting 6000+ steps on the Inspire, I switched to the Charge 2. After syncing, I lost all the steps on my Inspire HR.  My phone, tablet, and Fitbit.com dashboards show only the steps on my Charge 2. How can I get them back? And, more importantly, how do I insure it doesn’t happen again? I want to be able to switch between the two.

Make sure you sync right before switching out a tracker.  Otherwise those steps are on the tracker but have not been moved to the main fitbit database.  Until a sync, data recorded on your tracker is not in the main database.  If that is the issue, you might be able to get them back by switching trackers again and syncing, making sure you sync from your current tracker before switching.
