My Inspire won't track my sleep

My inspire will not track my sleep, I've restarted it then took a nap but still nothing. Why won't it automatically track my sleep? I've done all the suggested things.

The version number is on the Fitbit app where the inspire is linked. That’s the only number I see

Sigh (sort of).  I am returning #2 from Amazon, that one didn't track sleep.  Now I'm on #3, but this is a seller refurb from ebay.  Doesn't track sleep either.  (I suppose one good thing, the step counts have all been consistent between the 3.)  This one came in a generic box, in two little baggies.  The unit with a wrist band in one bag, and the other wrist band and charger in the other bag.  One interesting things was that for the first two, they were "new" units, such that I 1st had to charge them, the f/w updated on both automatically, and then I could pair them with my tablet.  For this refurb, it came maybe 60% charged, and the f/w was already up to date.  Meh, still doesn't track sleep at all.  Just the faded out moon on the unit every day so far, and no sleep stats on Fitbit's web site.

There are manufacturer refurbs on ebay too.  That's what I'll try next.  If that doesn't work, I'll either try another Fitbit model (probably not, tired of these not working and no response from the company), or try a Garmin.

You could rightly say, dude, you've had 3 of these now, none of then have tracked sleep, maybe you're doing something wrong.  Well, you could say that, but you'd be wrong.  🙂  Remember, I had a Fitbit Flex 2 originally, and that tracked sleep really well.  I have a cheap Chinese Akasma activity tracker from Amazon now, that also tracks sleep fine.  (Actually, I don't remember the Flex 2 doing this, but the Akasma tracks awake time, light sleep time, and deep sleep time.  I think the Flex 2 only tracked sleep and being awake.)  So it ain't me.  😉  I personally can only conclude that there is a manufacturing defect such that some of these? most of these? don't track sleep.  Maybe this doesn't get more visibility, because most people are only interested in the fitness/step tracking.

Oh well, my quest to get a properly sleep tracking Inspire continues.  I bought what I thought was a Fitbit refurbed unit on ebay.  But then when I explained to the seller that it had to have been refurbed by FItbit (presuming they'd actually fix a malfunctioning unit), the guy said no, it was refurbed by their vendor, not Fitbit.  So I said to go ahead and cancel the order.

I wonder if I got one direct from Fitbit, if it would work or not ...  Sheesh.

I took a look at the Charge 3, but when you look at the negative reviews on Amazon, man, those have their own set of issues.  Maybe I'll just stick with the Chinese Akasma I got from Amazon.  Works for steps and sleep, just doesn't integrate with Walkadoo.

Same. Same. Same.  All these issues.  And I've had my Inspire for less than a month.  Stopped tracking movement altogether (activities, sleep) with zero change from me.  Now I've reset it, reloaded the app, played with the sensitivity settings...way more work than is really necessary.  I still have my Flex 2 and it still works.  Boxing this piece of junk up and sending it back.

Personally, I gave up.  I'm using a $35 Chinese special I got from Amazon instead.  Works better than the 3 Inspires I had, for sleep and for activity tracking.

And if you read through this thread, I also got tired of Fitbit deferring, deferring, deferring every single time to take responsibility, or replace the unit I had.  I know that someone got a replacement from Fitbit that actually worked, but I got tired of having to repeatedly explain my issues and that my 3 didn't work no matter what I tried, when out of the box, I had zip, zero, nada issues with the Flex 2 I had, or the Chinese special Akasma I got to replace the Inspire.  Fitbit has something to learn about customer service I think.

Google bought them.  Maybe they'll fix these types of issues.

My inspire (and my husbands) both used to track sleep and give a 10 min notification to move during thar hour but after a few months, both of those facilities stopped working. It’s so frustrating isn’t it!

Hi Guys

Please check if you inspire is on clip mode, just change it to the wrist mode and it should solve the issue; this helped me

I tried that early on.  And every other setting I could find.  None of the 3 that I ever had, ever tracked sleep.  Period.  And I tried from both Amazon, and ebay.  I believe that 2 were brand new, and one was a FitBit company refurb.  None of them tracked sleep at all.  I'm curious now about the Inspire 2.  But I'm not going to pay $100 just to find out that it doesn't track sleep either.  So I'm waiting for more reviews about that one, and for the price to come down.

I loved my Alta. I didn’t like when they came out with new models & I couldn’t get text notifications so I upgraded to an inspire HR & I have more trouble tracking sleep with it than I ever did the Alta. And I still don’t get text notifications 🤷🏻‍:female_sign:

Press side button on fitbit for 2 or 3 seconds. When the menu pops up go all the way down and switch from clip to arm. For some reason Fitbit defaults the device to clip.
