Hi,
I’ve just turned on a brand new fitbit and it’s saying I’ve burnt 862calories already before I’ve even taken it off charge. How do I reset this as this is inaccurate?

Hi, @Taylor5991 , this is probably the most frequently asked Fitbit question!
The answer is, it probably isn’t inaccurate... As I am sure you are aware, your body is burning calories all the time, just by being alive. Your bodily systems : respiration, digestion, circulation - even thinking (!) etc all burn calories. These calories are called your Basal Metabolic Rate (BMR) calories and are calculated by Fitbit according to standard guidelines, based on your age, height, weight and sex. The number is reset to zero each day at midnight, and then starts counting again. As soon as you enter the information in your profile, the Fitbit and the app will calculate these calories whether or not you wear the device. These are calories that the program calculates you must have burned, even if you were in a coma.
Once you are wearing your Fitbit, you will get extra calories counted from your activity.
I hope that makes things clearer. Please post again with any more questions. Enjoy your new Fitbit, and welcome to the Community!
