Not tracking exercise or heart rate

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

Inspire hr is not tracking my heart rate during a walk or run on the treadmill so it’s not recognizing my exercise. Then if I try to add it manually it doubles my steps and distance. Also I fell that my calories burned for the day are not accurate if it’s not tracking my heart rate. I have adjusted it to be tighter or more loose. I have also moved it higher or lower on my wrist and nothing is helping?

Welcome to the Fitbit Community @Abatty. I´ll be glad to assist you with your inspire not tracking HR inquiry. Thank you for letting us know that you have adjusted it to be tighter or more lose.

Could you please confirm that you have already followed the steps of help article Why don't I see my heart rate on my Fitbit device?

Thank you for responding. I have now done all of the troubleshooting tips and still have the same issue. About 10-15 minutes into my treadmill workouts the heart rate function stops working. If I readjust my Fitbit it will pickup my heart rate and immediately stop tracking again. When I finish my treadmill workout it starts tracking again and seems to track well through my strength training and other activities. It’s very frustrating because I intended to use this heart rate monitor during my workouts to hit a target heartate and it’s not working for that purpose.

I would love a reply and possible solution to this issue. I would really like to avoid returning my Fitbit. Thanks.

Thanks for getting back to us @Abatty. I apologize for the delayed response and will be glad to continue assisting you.

As with all heart-rate tracking technology, accuracy is affected by personal physiology, location of wear, and type of movement.

When you’re not exercising, wear your device a finger’s width above your wrist bone. Fitbit’s PurePulse technology is designed to be most accurate when you wear your device on the top of your wrist.

For improved heart-rate accuracy, keep these tips in mind:

  1. Experiment with wearing the device higher on your wrist during exercise for an improved fit and more accurate heart-rate reading. Many exercises such as bike riding or weight lifting cause you to bend your wrist frequently, which could interfere with the heart-rate signal if the watch is lower on your wrist.

  2. Make sure the device is in contact with your skin.
  3. Do not wear your device too tight; a tight band restricts blood flow, potentially affecting the heart-rate signal. That being said, the device should also be slightly tighter (snug but not constricting) during exercise than during all-day wear.
  4. With high-intensity interval training, boxing, or other activities where your wrist is moving vigorously and non-rhythmically, the movement may prevent the sensor from finding an accurate heart rate. Similarly, with exercises such as weight lifting or rowing, your wrist muscles may flex in such a way that the band tightens and loosens during exercise. Try relaxing your wrist and staying still briefly (about 10 seconds), after which you should see an accurate heart-rate reading. Note that your device will still provide accurate calorie burn readings during these types of exercise by analyzing your heart rate trends over the course of the workout.

Please let me know if you have more questions.

  • Thanks for the response. I posted that I have already tried all of those steps in my earlier posts. And that it tracks fine through all other activities included weight lifting. I have no problem at all unless I’m walking on the treadmill. It tracks accurately for about the first 10 min and then stops. I’ve tried moving it around and walking with my hands at my side, walking with my hands hanging down, resetting, and everything else suggested. It just stops about 10-15 min into walking on the treadmill. If I adjust the band it will start tracking again but for usually less than a minute then stops again. When I get off the treadmill it starts tracking again on it’s own and continues to track through all of my weight training and all other activities. Only stops on the treadmill. Not running. Just walking.

Did you ever get this resolved?  I just bought an Inspire HR and it recognized my exercise the first 2 days and then quit.  I did all the steps for resetting, moving it on my arm, etc. and it still won't track.  The automatic tracking is the reason I bought the thing and it's not working.

No I never got this issue resolved. Customer support stopped answering me. I’ve tried everything as well. I paid extra for the heart rate function! So dissatisfied and really wish it wasn’t to late to just return it to the store.
