Random distances inspire hr?

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

I've not been happy that distance accuracy on fitbit since I bought it.  This week my first run was recorded as 3.5 miles, second run on same route 2.9 miles. Today I went for a longer run and it shows even less - 2.5 miles (meanwhile google fit app shows 4.2!).

I always start the exercise of from my inspire hr and wait until it shows 'connected' before starying.

Anybody with similar issues?

Take a close look at your map and zoom in.  Does the path zig zag rather than follow your actual run?

I'm new to Fitbit and finding similar complains about connected gps accuracy.  All the zig zags add distance and mess up the distance and pace readings.

Are you on Android or iPhone?

I'm Android as well.  Most of the forum messages are under other Fitbit models but have lots of reading with various tricks that don't yield a solution.  Apparently this is a new issue that started in the last year or so with no official acknowledgement of the issue.  I've tried them all and even completely factory reset my phone.  Screenshot attached has a short walk recorded at the same time From the Fitbit (top) vs. directly within the Fitbit app (bottom).  All those zig zags throw off the distance and pace stats particularly on a longer exercise.

It shows I've got good gps signal and the phone can plot a smooth path.  Something is getting lost in how the tracker communicates.

I've had my Fitbit for almost 3 weeks.  At this point it is getting returned.

Update....  I reached out to support via chat and referenced this thread and the screenshots I posted.  This Fitbit fits my needs outside of this issue and something different will be outside of what I'm willing to spend at this time

The rep acknowledged they are aware of the issue and to keep checking for app and firmware updates for a fix.  They were not able to provide a timeline.  I'm undecided on my next move at this point.  Maybe I'll try connecting to my work iPhone before starting a return. I am curious and a tinker at heart.

I encourage others seeing this to contact support as well.
