Registering steps while driving.

I’ve seen this topic in the forums, but I could not find if there is a suitable answer as of yet.  I am an over-the-road truck driver.  I spend much of my day, up to 11 hours driving.  This also includes stopping many times during my day stopping, getting up and down out of the truck, checking my loads, then driving again.  Because it is recording steps while driving, my Inspire HR Fitbit is recording 10,000+ steps a day regularly.  The only answers I can find in these forums is to manually change my logs each day, each and every time, which is NOT a suitable option.  Or, frankly returning this Fitbit to the store, which I really don’t want to have to do.  I like all the other features, but recording steps while I’m driving, is a deal breaker.  I like the Fitbit products. Is there another product that will have at least the same features as the Inspire HR, but resolve this issue completely?  Thank you.

@PawPawTrucker Welcome! It's nice to have you on board!

Let me help you with your Inspire HR recording steps while driving. It seems that you have covered the bases on this subject. The Inspire (not the HR that you have) has a clip mode, this makes it more accurate and less prone to record steps while driving. You could try wearing your device on your pants pocket although this will negate the heart rate data. You can try with your current device and see how this works out for you.

Let me know how it goes.

hey there @PawPawTrucker .. with all wrist trackers there is probability of false steps as a result of arm activity. I think yours is more due to bumps and maybe shifting gears. I would do what was suggested when you are driving. your HR is probably pretty consistent while you drive and you can swap it back to wrist when you know you will have an increase in HR due to labor...

I appreciate you getting back with me. It just seems that in order to get one thing, I must give up another.  Driving is an everyday thing for most everyone.  I just do not understand why Fitbit haven’t taken that into account with their products. It’s really a disappointment.  Looks like I have no choice but to settle for something that just is not capable of doing what I thought it would do.

Hey.  I never really expected any tracker to be perfect as far as recording steps really.  A rough idea would be nice.  I wish Fitbit would give an option to pause step recording at the least, while I’m driving.  Oh well.
