Sleep tracking not working

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

My Fitbit Inspire hasn’t tracked my sleep for nearly 3 weeks. It tracked for around the first 2 weeks of having it, but hasn’t since. I’ve been through all the usual stuff with people on chat (restart, wearing on dominant arm etc) and my Fitbit still isn’t tracking my sleep, which is one of the main reasons I bought it. I’m now being told to manually put in my app when I’m going to sleep and waking up, but I don’t see why I should have to do this when it should be tracking my sleep automatically? I feel like no one wants to get this sorted for me and I’m currently just been left with a device that’s not doing what it should be doing. Also contacted via Twitter but no one seems interested!! HELP!!

Nice to see that you're digging into the Forums @bethp92, let me give you a warm welcome to our Community.

Thanks a million for all the steps that you've tried beforehand. Sorry you feel that way, I'll be glad to give you a hand with this. There are a few scenarios where you might see your sleep pattern (which shows your time asleep, restless, and awake) instead of sleep stages:

  • If you slept in a position that prevented your device from getting a consistent heart-rate reading or wore it too loosely. For best results, wear your device higher on your wrist (about 2-3 finger widths above your wrist bone). The band should feel secure but not too tight.
  • If you used the Begin Sleep Now option in the Fitbit app (instead of simply wearing your device to bed). For more information on automatic sleep tracking, see How do I track my sleep?
  • If you slept for less than 3 hours.
  • If your device’s battery is critically low.

Additional data such as the length of time your movements are indicative of sleep behavior (such as rolling over) help confirm that you’re asleep. Morning movement tells your tracker that you’re awake. If you’re not moving but not asleep for long periods of time it’s possible for your device to falsely record sleep, in which case you can delete the sleep log from your history.

If you're still not getting your sleep information on the Fitbit App, please confirm that your Inspire HR has synced with your mobile or syncing device.

Some users have reported better sleep tracking when using the option "on clip" instead of "on wrist", you can find the instructions on how to do so in the manual page 12 and 18.

Keep me posted.

Mine is exactly the same - had my device for about 4 weeks - tracked my sleep pretty much every night for about 2 weeks then no detailed sleep tracking for the last 2 weeks - not even 1 night and I’m not doing anything different -so frustrating

Did you ever figure this out? My sleep hasn't tracked the last 2 nights. The moon icon on my Fitbit is also the only thing that is not lit up. It is on in my app, but not on my wrist.

I need sleep tracker. Please let me know if resolved?!

Boo!!!!!

Stop with the canned advice - we already know all of this, we need our sleep tracking feature to WORK!

Mine hasn’t tracked the last two nights as well. I had a sync issue until I removed/re-added to the app then deleted/reinstalled the app. I kept getting a pop up that “not all apps synced”. That is resolved but the sleep data never came back. Hopefully tonight is better! Have you had any of these other issues?

same here. I called a couple months ago. Support got it to track a day or 2 but after that it hasn't tracked sleep or HR. Ugh

There are some other problems emerging with the sleep app.  One is that it occasionally thinks I'm sleeping when I'm already up and moving around -- making the bed, opening window drapes, etc.  This throws off the total score and the awake, REM, deep, etc. percentages.  It's probably because of the algorithm not recognizing that some people have naturally lower heart rates than others.  Either that or I'm sleep-walking for up to 15 minutes!  The other is that when I most recently charged my Inspire, it recorded the 52 minutes of charging time as sleep!!!! Said I went to sleep at 2:41 p.m. and woke up at 4 p.m. and also posted the following notice: "Why did I get simplified Sleep Details?  We need more tan 3 hours of sleep to reliably calculate your sleep stages."  Glad I'm not paying for premium!
