Step count and sleep data not accurate Inspire 2

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

I just received an Inspire 2 after my Alta suddenly died. Yesterday was the first day wearing it, and it logged only 100 steps all day.

It said my bedtime was 2:45 am this morning, even though I went to sleep much earlier.

This morning, I walked to the bathroom and back, across a small living room, and it said I’ve walked nearly 500 steps.

I have tried resetting the device, checking to make sure the device is set to “wrist,” and checking that the stride length is accurate. Just sitting on the couch, searching the web for “Fitbit Inspire 2 inaccuracies” is a workout, apparently, as now I’m up to nearly 700.

I’ve noticed a lot of other folks having similar problems. Are there a lot of Inspire 2 “lemons?” Should I send it back and reorder?

Hi, welcome to the Community forums, @SarahCarrotcake.

I appreciate all the information that you've shared about this problem you're experiencing with your Inspire 2.

Keep in mind the algorithm is designed to look for intensity and motion patterns that are most indicative of people walking and running. When working at a desk, cooking, or performing other activities with arm movements, a device on your wrist may add some steps. When you’re doing activities that involve arm movement, such as working or cooking, you often walk a few steps in-between stationary periods as well, so the device tries to give you credit for those steps. For most customers, the number of extra steps added by arm-based movement isn’t significant when compared to your overall stats.

However, since you already tried the basic troubleshooting steps, like restarting the device or updating the dominant hand and stride length information, I recommend that you get in touch with the Customer Support team for further assistance. The best way to get help for this problem is to chat with us online or give us a call. In the meantime, keep in mind that there are some factors that may prevent your tracker from recording your sleep. Please make sure of the following:

  • If you slept in a position that prevented your device from getting a consistent heart-rate reading or wore it too loosely. For best results, wear your device as described in this help article.
  • If you slept for less than 1 hour for sleep patterns or less than 3 hours for sleep stages.
  • If your device’s battery is critically low.

Thank you for all the information provided; our team is always working to enhance your experience and your feedback is a big part of that process. This helps to continue improving the quality of products and services.

See you around.
