Step count + stride length accuracy

Hi I am setting up my fitbit and noticed the stepcount is going waaaaay to fast. I took 2 steps and it said like 15. Does this have to do with stride length? And what's the best ways to make this more accurate??

I'm not sure what's causing the step count to be too high but it's not the stride length - that only affects the distance calculation (distance = steps x stride)

There might be some things to try in fitbit's help file on accuracy at Help article: How accurate are Fitbit trackers?
