Step tracking for treadmill

I use a treadmill twice a week and as I am not very stable, I cannot walk without holding onto the rails.  Will the fitbit track my steps if I put it into my pocket or hang it from my waist?

Welcome to the forums!

Yes but if you have the HR model the Heart rate will not be accurate.

Also dont except the steps to be accurate either as you are not moving forward like walking

Hope to see you around

Thank you!  The heart rate is measured by the treadmill and even a rough estimate of steps would be nice.  I choose to use the treadmill as it helps even out my very uneven gait.
