Too many steps....HR

I received my Fitbit as a gift on Thursday evening and set it up as instructed. Friday it gave me a step reading of way too many steps. This morning, Saturday, it again keeps adding by the hundred. I read David's post and reset it as instructed. Steps went to zero and back to over 1000 in no time whilst sitting reading....got up twice to boil kettle....a few steps away..please advise.

Hi,

It's very sensitive about the wrist movements. I wore it on my non-dominant wrist and changed the settings to dominant. It lowered the count about 30%. While on the Ztrac cutting the grass, it says I did 20,000+ steps.

I never paid much attention to the step counter because the count is always wrong.

Peace!

Hello @Melron have you tried a restart?   I'm unaware of what the reset procedure would be.

Also check your arm setting.

Yes as @Kelli68 mentions, the tracker is looking at the arm motions to determine what the feet may be doing. At times they can be fooled, like clapping, doing housework,  any up/down movement of the weist may add steps.

Thank you for the replies. I followed Dave from Fitbit who gave instructions on how to restart the fitbit. I did that and also left it off my arm that night. The past two days it seems to be counting correctly.
