I was using my weed whacker to cut down tall grass & weeds.  After finishing I learned that I had been credited for 'outdoor bicycling'.  Last winter I was using my snow thrower and I was subsequently credited for swimming.  It's difficult for me to see any similarities between the two activities I was doing and what I was credited for.  Inspire HR gets my elliptical sessions correctly, however.

Thank you, I turned off all exercise "auto recognize" modes I will never
use.  I found it quite humorous, however, when it thought I was swimming
& bicycling for such completely different activities (snow thrower, weed
whacker). You're correct that it's impressive in how it can recognize
anything other than walking by just arm movements.  I suspect it also
uses pulse rate variations in conjunction with arm movements.  It always
gets my recumbent elliptical sessions correctly and I find that quite
impressive.

I agree the auto-recognized activities sometimes do seem strange, but then again, to me it seems strange it can actually recognize anything other than a walk from just seeing wrist movement.

If there is an activity you never do, you can just disable that activity from ever being auto-recognized via

phone app > exercise tile > gear icon.

Before posting, re-read to see if it would make sense to someone else not looking at your Fitbit or phone.
