I know you can walk as you play golf and your steps would be counted. What if you ride in an golf cart most of the time but walk some also. Can the FitBit be setup to know the difference between steps walked versus distance traveled?

Hello @BWilson007 and welcome to the Community. The answer given by @SunsetRunner has an incorrect statement. Your Inspire 2 cannot be programmed to auto-recognize golf. The golf exercise shortcut is part of the Exercise app on the Inspire 2. Her instruction on how to add it to your Exercise app are correct. I don't have an Inspire 2 on my account, but I do have a Luxe. If the shortcuts work the same on both devices, then GPS isn't an option. If GPS is an option, then don't use it. Then your Inspire 2 will only count your walking steps. You need to keep one thing in mind. Your Fitbit will probably overcount your steps if you drive off the cart path a lot. I wouldn't worry about those extra steps at all.
To summarize, use the Exercise app with the Golf Exercise shortcut with GPS off (if available). Then there is no need to separate the walking from the riding.

Hello @BWilson007
You can always have your Inspire 2 have an exercise shortcut of Golf. Open your Fitbit, tap your profile picture then scroll down and tap the name of your Fitbit tracker. Now scroll down and tap exercise shortcuts. Look for golf in the list of exercises. If it doesn’t appear tap edit (you can only have 7 exercises on your list so if you already have 7 delete one from the list….then tap +exercise shortcut) now you can add golf to the list. Tap done when your finished and sync your Fitbit to accept any changes you made.
if you would prefer to edit your golf time walking and riding a golf cart it can be done but it would be incredibly time consuming but you can see how to edit your activities here: https://help.fitbit.com/articles/en_US/Help_article/1306.htm
😃Please let me know if this indeed answers your question. Keep me posted

My Inspire 2 won't let me add golf as an auto-recognized activity, even if I tell it to ignore one or two of the set options

Hello @oldgirl51
Golf can not be auto recognized. In my previous post I accidentally typed auto recognize when I intended to type exercise shortcut in my first sentence but the rest of my paragraph to include the directions were correct as I obviously used the term exercise shortcut throughout. I hope that clarifies things. If you want to include golf as an exercise shortcut please follow my directions above. Let me know if you have any troubles.
