250 Step Goal

Currently, the 250 per hour step goal can be set for a range of hours, however they must be consecutive. I believe  the 250 step goals range should be changed to a 24 hour period. The wearer would select how many hours a day they want to hit the 250 goal in that 24 hour period, consecutive or not.

The current system of consecutive hours is inflexible. Things can happen to cause one hour to be missed which leads to failing the entire day. Big demotivator for a company that is known as a Big Motivator!.

Do you think its a good idea to go nonconsecutive? If so, how can it get changed so the wearer can select the number of hours during a 24 hr periid they want to get a minimum 250 steps.  I think this feature would get a big positive usage push if the change was made.

I had similar thoughts, so I wrote this watch face, ILuvChrono, that marks the hours when the 250 step goal was achieved

I so agree - been trying to add this as an idea for a couple of years or so. I believe it’s been suggested by various people since around 2016 and is an obvious no-brainer. On a business meeting, dental appointment, or with doctor, hairdresser, rehearsal, restaurant meal… anything like these can mess up your hourly step count.

Hi @CeeJayW  - the 250 steps per hour is a recommendation to motivate you to not sit on the couch all day, and so to be active for a number of hours in the day.

This is not always possible for some hours, as you mention, and that is quite acceptable.

If the focus is to absolutely have a certain number of active hours in a day, while in some of the key hours it can't be done,  you can extend your move hours to include extra hours and be active there.

But the point of the 250 steps per hour is changed from stopping you being inactive, to achieving a certain number of active hours every day regardless which is changing what it was designed for.

The important thing to note is to not let your watch dictate how you live, sometimes it's ok to miss an objective which after all is only a guideline.
