This message occurs when the pin has been put in wrong to many times.
See the bottom half of my last post, where I posted the info to unlock with the phone.
I also posted a link to the Fitbit help document wig the instructions.
Hopefully no one has removed the Versa from the Fitbit account, which will prevent the user from unlocking with the phone.

Hello @Melibro which 4 digit code are you referring to?
Is it the pin code to unlock the wallet, or are you asking about the code to setup your tracker.
The code to setup the tracker is a one time use code and there isn't a reason to remember it.
The pin code to unlock the wallet may be changed through the Fitbit app if it has been forgotten.
See question 4 and 5 in the FAQ.
How do I use the device lock on my Fitbit device?
Basically go to the trackers settings in the app.
Tap Device Lock now enter the code used for unlocking the phone.
Tap Change Pin Code.
Before exiting set the pin code for wallet only.
